A step-by-step diagram and a video link are given below on how to carry out this mindful exercise.

This workout has its mental and physical aspects too

Mentally: You have to stay focused, but at the same time feel the pose calmly and mindfully. Practice as per your speed and comfort. Feel the burn, the adrenaline, the agility kicking in your whole body as you experience the flow of each pose.

Physically: Exhausting...Yes! but take the practice slow at first. Breathing is important for this workout, so inhale and exhale in each pose. One set is 12 poses. To begin with, carry out 2 sets for one week, then 3 second week, slowly progressing to 5 then according to your strength increase it by 9 sets. However, while you are in this workout mode, you must Listen To Your Body. Take rest when needed!

Post Workout

Savasana- The Relaxation Pose

Cool and relax your whole body down by lying on the yoga mat. Feet a little apart, eyes gently closed, fingers naturally curled and palms facing the roof

Scan your whole body from head to toe, releasing tension around the forehead, facial muscles, and shoulders. Continue with deep breathing and relax. Be in the present moment

Meditation

Meditation brings inner peace and you are one with your body and soul. Practice chanting to conserve positive energy within and around you. Observe your breathing.

Beat The Heat...Grab this soulful treat. Your body is already warmed up and you can feel the fire after this intense workout. So, what is the best remedy 'none other than the refreshing, airy, and cooling booster 'Tender Coconut Water'. Enjoy each sip as it soothes and revives your body.

A Journey of self-discovery- The Ultimate 108

This month of February marked the birth of the sun god. To celebrate the moment, we had to carry out 108 sun salutations. Depending on your level of strength you could reduce the limit. The glow of the sun, trees giving a nice and gentle breeze, and a good crowd from children to senior citizens had already filled the atmosphere with power packed energy.

We carried out 9 sets of this ultimate workout. Between the three sets, we practiced savasana. I simply love this pose. Rejuvenates your whole body. After 72 sun salutations, I started feeling tired and literally wanted to stop but with motivation, kept on moving and pushing myself... you have got this far, so just the final three.  All over...mission accomplished! To put the cherry on the cake, it was time for my soulful drink of coconut water.

A divine takeaway

Suryanamaskara requires a lot of practice and skill. Will probably take many years to get it right. I've been practicing for some time now and yet still trying to nail the skill. However, the exercise is very enriching and brings out the best in you, which one should experience and incorporate in their daily life. Ten minutes in the morning with an empty stomach will give you a boost throughout the day.

Remember, Age is just a number...what matters is the importance of your well-being and seeing yourself in a different, yet positive light.

Have a glorious workout 🌞
